The number of persons who jump off the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos keeps soarings as Lagosians woke up to the horrifying deed by a man identified as Nurudeen who reportedly attempted suicide by jumping off the bridge.
According to an eyewitness who reported the sad development on Twitter, the man was seen taking a dive into the lagoon as passerby resumed for the business of the day.
Reports further suggest that men of the Lagos State Waterways Authority and local fishermen were forced to rush to his rescue, preventing him from drowning.
The man was said to have dropped his identification card and mobile phone behind before taking the jump; a move that aided his easy identification.
Further investigation revealed that he had called his wife shortly before jumping into the lagoon.
He has since been receiving medical attention from paramedics.
