At the Muri Okunola Park in Victoria Island Lagos went down the 50th edition of Afropolitan Vibes, the monthly live music concert which exist as a platform for alternative music, a place where the lovers of good music come together to celebrate and watch contemporary singers, performers, songwriters and musicians perform mostly original works that are well rooted in African musical origins of all the genres of African music.
As always, the show kicked off with performance by Bantu, a soundtrack of Lagos, as they took the crowd down the memory lane with their old songs and some of the hits from old Nigerian music legends.
Johnny Drille took over the stage, the guy that the famous producer Cobhams Asuquo, described as the future of Nigerian music industry. Johnny was a contestant on the 6th Edition of MTN’s Project Fame, he performed his well-known tracks like Wait For Me, Love Don’t Lie and others.
Then Omawunmi aka Omawonder took the stage as she displayed raw talents of African music, and to round it off, guess who took the stage, Oh my God, it was Chimezi Ironmuo better known by his stage name as Bright Chimezie, a legend of Highlife music in the Nigerian music industry. Born on the 10th January, 1960, Bright made waves in the 70s, 80s and early 90’s before retiring into obscurity.
