British-Nigerian heavyweight boxer, Anthony Joshua, may have recorded a 7th round knockout victory over Alexander Povetkin to extended his record to 22-0 at the Wembley last Saturday to retain his Super WBA, IBF and WBO titles, but the chances of a showdown with heavyweight giants, Deontay Wilder, and Tyson Fury, looks bleak.

News making the round have that it is increasingly likely that Joshua will not take on either Deontay Wilder or Tyson Fury in his next fight but rather compatriot Dillian Whyte in a rematch of their December 2015 clash.

Joshua had initially planned to fight Wilder this month but had to take on mandatory challenger, Povetkin, instead, after negotiations with Wilder’s team stalled over financial disagreements.

Meanwhile, Joshua has indicated willingness to face the winner of Wilder’s bout with Fury in December, as his promoter, Eddie Hearn, has poured cold water on that idea and says a deal must be in place ahead of Wilder-Fury for Joshua’s next fight on April 13, at the Wembley.
