The final burial of the late legendary raggae musician, Ukeleke Onwubuya, popularly known by his stage name Ras Kimono commenced on Wednesday till Thursday night , the tribute night was held at the COSON house, Ikeja Lagos.
There was a red carpet on display at the tribute night, it was as if there was a music concert about to go down, the likes of Dede Mabiaku, Kenny Saint Best, Faze, Alariwo of Africa, Clarion Chukwuka, Essence, Florence Ita-Giwa and a host of others were spotted.
Then later, Kimono’s daughter, Ogechukwu Kimono(Oge Kimono) also a raggae artiste took the stage as she took the audience down the memory lane to perform her father’s hit song he recorded in 1989, Under Pressure.
Raggae legends, Majek Fashek and Oritz Williki also paid last respect to their late friend by performing some of his songs.
Great many people came to pay last respect to the raggae legend, the rasta community in Lagos was also present to honour their member, Kimono’s manager Daddy Faizer also laid out some speculations pertaining to the health failure that led to his death.
On Thursday morning, his body left the TOS Funeral Home where it has been preserved since his death on June 10, 2018 to his place of residence, Magodo in Lagos, a convoy of vehicles were lined as the hearse carrying his body gloriously left TOS funeral home.
Later the remains of his body made the onward journey to his Onicha Olona ancestral home in the Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State on Thursday morning.
